Explore outside and learn: Why does Steamboat get such fluffy snow? What's the deal with frost? and interesting local weather curiosity’s

Then come inside and take part in some winter STEM experiments that will demonstrate many of concepts we will explore from  the snowshoe outside.

Snowshoes are provided FREE on site !

What to wear:

• Family Snowshoe Adventure at Legacy Ranch endeavors to be a fun experience for families with all ages welcome! 
• Spend your afternoon out connecting your senses to history through a guided easy snowshoe with wide open views on flat hay fields. (1 hour duration*)
• After touring the hayfields there will be hot chocolate, activities and more opportunities to learn from a Naturalist in our cozy historic ranch house!

Snowshoes are provided FREE on site !

• What to wear:
  • Waterproof winter boots and wool socks
  • waterproof pants or gators over your pants
  • Dress in layers and avoid cotton!
  • Wear sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, and gloves
• Suggestions to bring out on the hike:
  • Water bottles (2 liters at least) and snacks (if you think you'll need them!)
  • Extra layers (fleece or down shirt or jacket, and a waterproof/windproof jacket, thick mittens)- for all members of the family
  • Hand/toe warmers (optional for people who get really cold hands/feet)
  • Camera for picture of the views of the Yampa Valley and Steamboat Springs.

*The Ranch house is always nearby if families need to retreat into a heated space during the tour and has flush toilets on site in heated buildings as well!
