Windy Ridge Archaeology and Geology Hike will be led by experts who will take you on a journey through time learning about the Windy Ridge area, how it was formed, and why it's such a unique place historically.
Meet at the USFS Office at 8:50 am dressed for current and future weather. Pack plenty of water, lunch, snacks, warm layers and a rain jacket!
Description
The Windy Ridge Archeology and Geology Hike will be a moderate hike (about 5 miles round trip) with an educational focus so feel free to bring a notebook and pen along with your smiles, enthusiasm, and curiosity!
Important details:
Meeting Time: 8:50am (the group will carpool and look to leave at 9 am returning by 3 pm)
Meeting Location: US Forest Service Office (925 Weiss Drive)
Transportation: A Yampatika Van will transport the group
Cost: $40
What to wear: Dress for the weather (current and future) and dress in layers! You'll most likely want long pants/sleeves to protect yourself from the sun, dirt, and things that might make you itchy (mosquitos etc.). Avoid cotton when you’re able and go with a synthetic material or wool.
Also remember to wear sturdy hiking shoes, good socks, a cool sun hat, and sunscreen!
What to bring in your day pack:2Water bottles (2 liters or more), snacks, lunch, sunscreen, extra layers (long sleeve shirt, fleece) and also bring your waterproof jacket!
